About
Christine King - South African
Fantasy Author
Christine always wanted to be an author, but the high school career counselor never managed to find one, so it’s taken far longer than she would have liked. Turns out, all she had to do was write a book. Easy.
That first book was rubbish.
But that’s what first books are meant to be. About ten years later, Christine quit her office job (not recommended) and started writing what would become Stormcaller, the first part of a fantasy series called the Murmuration. Because if you’re going to do something you’ve always wanted to do, you might as well make it the most difficult version of that thing. If only to sound impressive at parties (remember parties?).
Christine lives in Cape Town, South Africa so obviously doesn’t know how to navigate unless there’s a mountain involved. She grew up barefoot in the back garden, where she learned about birds (and how to fix them), snakes (and why we need them), chameleons (and how to spot them), and all manner of other things, from her mother (the saviour of little wild things). She was already well grown up by the time the cobra appeared.
One day, Christine would like to be a screenwriter and also to own a dog.
While you’re here, pick up a copy of Stormcaller (not rubbish). She’d really appreciate it.
